Animal shelter to accept cash for donation

Animal shelter employees will accept donations to help feed hungry animals and staff members will donate the proceeds to a fund that will be used to purchase food, a staff member told Vice News.

Animal rights activists have called for the animal welfare organization to start accepting donations, citing its ties to the American Humane Association, a lobbying group that promotes animal rights.

The Animal Legal Defense Fund, which has called for an investigation into the shelter’s behavior, has called on the nonprofit to close its doors.

“The American Humane Society has repeatedly violated the law by failing to investigate and take appropriate action against animal abusers, including the American Taming Club,” the group wrote in a statement Monday.

The AHS has not responded to a request for comment.
